I welcome the statement by Deputy Prime Minister, Tan Sri
Muhyiddin Yassin that the government accepts with an-open mind former prime
minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s concern about the country’s leadership and
its handling of certain issues. According to the DPM that there was hikmah
(wisdom) in Dr Mahathir’s actions. He also said that besides taking the
concerns raised with an open mind, the government would also take steps to act
on them if warranted.
On 22 August 2014, via my facebook, twitter and blog I wrote
that Tun Dr Mahathir’s pulling back support for Najib was “a wake-up call”
while DPM described as “ a reminder by a father figure”.
We all know that Dr Mahathir means well and he wants UMNO,
BN and the government to do better. Hence, the seven points raised by Tun Dr
Mahathir should be viewed by the government for the sake of bangsa and negara.
With the statements by the DPM on Tun Dr Mahathir comments,
I urged Majlis Bekas Wakil Rakyat Malaysia (MUBARAK) to publicly withdraw the
allegation that Tun Dr Mahathir conducting a “cold war” with Datuk Seri Najib
Tun Abdul Razak. MUBARAK statement might be politicised by some quarters with
the intention to split UMNO. MUBARAK must apologize to Tun Dr Mahathir for such
behaviour.
